From NBL youngsters bursting onto the NBA scene, to veterans looking to get back in the association, here’s what you need to know from the Summer League so far.

Travers turning heads
After shining with the Perth Wildcats and being selected by Cleveland with the 56th pick in the draft, Luke Travers is quickly establishing himself as a Cavalier cult hero.
Not only has his game impressed but Travers’ trademark mullet has garnered plenty of attention and has even drawn Larry Bird comparisons.
White’s breakout
Flying straight from Australian Boomers World Cup Qualifiers to the Summer League, Jack White has wasted no time getting to work with the Denver Nuggets.
White’s breakout performance came on Monday where he pulled down 15 rebounds alongside eight points and three blocks.
Reath’s rough luck
Illawarra Hawks and Australian Boomers star Duop Reath had a strong start to his Summer League, recording 11 points and seven rebounds for the Phoenix Suns against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Reath earned a spot in the starting line-up for game two but suffered an early injury, leaving his status for the rest of the tournament in doubt.
Giddey and Dieng form thunderous connection
Two former NBL Next Stars have created an exciting duo in Oklahoma City, as Josh Giddey and Ousmane Dieng give Thunder fans a taste of what to expect this season and into the future.
Both players were lottery picks directly from the NBL, as Giddey was the sixth pick in 2021 after a season with the Adelaide 36ers, while Dieng was the 11th pick this year after playing for the New Zealand Breakers.

Gak flies
Illawarra youngster Akoldah Gak made a name for himself on Monday morning with a massive dunk for the Chicago Bulls.
After the game, Gak said he had a “million emotions” running through his head about the slam.
