Mootyy appointed head coach for All-Star team

On Friday, September 22, the NBA 2K League will host their third annual NBA 2K League All-Star event, with NBL Oz Gaming's own Mitchell 'Mootyy' Franklin as head coach for the Eastern conference.

"It’s truly an honor and surreal feeling to be appointed the East All-Star Head Coach," Mootyy said. 

It's a validation of my hard work, dedication, and ability to lead a team in the NBA 2K League. It means the world to me."

NBL Oz Gaming did the unthinkable in the 2023 season. They were the Eastern conference champions who took home AUD $300k in prize money, and played in every in-person tournament across the board. 

Mootyy's first time as head coach in the NBA 2K League was a roaring success, and reflected on his appointment as head coach in the All-Star event. 

Held at the NBA Headquarters in New York, Mootyy will lead the 5v5 squad in a single-game matchup against the Western conference.

The 3v3 portion of the event will follow, with a four-team bracket of best-of-three series.

The event will be broadcast on the NBA 2K League Twitch and YouTube channels, and a prize pool of USD $30,000 will be awarded to the winners.
