Major McDowell-White setback

Major McDowell-White setback

Saturday, November 18, 2023

New Zealand has suffered another big injury blow.

New Zealand Breakers star William McDowell-White is estimated to miss the next six weeks with a fractured fibula.

McDowell-White suffered the injury during the Breakers’ 97-92 win over the Tasmania JackJumpers on Thursday night.

It is another blow to Mody Maor’s 3-6 squad, who are still missing import Zylan Cheatham with a foot injury.

The 25-year-old McDowell-White has had a disrupted campaign, after a hand injury forced him to miss the start of the season. The latest setback will likely see him be out until at least after Christmas.

The in-demand free agent re-signed with the Breakers during the off-season but has averaged just 9.3 points, 4.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds this season.

He was moved to the bench in Rounds 6 and 7, but returned to the starting line-up against Tasmania.

Alex McNaught will take his place on the active roster.
