Majok seizes the moment

Tuesday, August 20, 2024
"Obviously my strengths are rebounding, playing defence, posting up and bringing leadership to the group."
Lining up alongside a group of players who “know how to win” was the driving factor for Majok Majok signing with the South East Melbourne Phoenix.
Part of three championship-winning rosters himself during his 185-game NBL career, Majok says the opportunity to play next to the likes of Derrick Walton Jr, Jordan Hunter and Angus Glover was too good to pass up.
“We’ve got multiple guys that won championships before. You’ve got that group of guys that know what it takes to win,” he told the Phoenix website.
“Bringing that into the group is going to be really beneficial for us during the season. I’m very happy about that.”
Majok was an injury replacement player at the Tasmania JackJumpers in NBL24, and provided valuable experience amongst the group, despite not taking to the court.
More recently, he averaged 13.7 points and 7 rebounds a game during the NBL1 season with the Warwick Senators.
“Obviously my strengths are rebounding, playing defence, posting up and bringing leadership to the group. We’ve got a lot of young guys, so just bringing in that experience,” Majok said.
Nathan Sobey, Matt Hurt and Joe Wieskamp complement the championship talent already coming in, with a completely new-look roster set to excite.
“Just from what I’ve seen so far, everyone is clicking well together and they have that experience of what it takes to be a champion and just having those pieces from different clubs come together is going to be really good for us,” Majok added.
The Phoenix tip off their pre-season campaign against Brisbane in Wangaratta on August 29.
