Magnay: Tassie struggles "overhyped"

Tuesday, December 10, 2024
“Media does a good job of overhyping everything that’s happening."
Tasmania JackJumpers big man Will Magnay says the media had been “overhyping” the team's early losses and they'd always trusted the process to get back to their winning ways.
“Media does a good job of overhyping everything that’s happening,” Magnay said via NewsCorp.
“We know we’re just going to come in and attack the next day, and that we were doing the right thing at practice and that would all eventually pay off.
“They’ve started to pay off a little bit now,” he said.

The JackJumpers were on the ropes with a 3-8 record, with many quick to write them off and call for change to the roster.
There were doubts around the Jackies' ability to overcome the loss of star local Jack McVeigh and put up winning scores, while injuries to key players made things even tougher.
But like they've done so many times in their short, but incredibly successful history, Scott Roth's team is finding a way.
The return of NBL24 Most Improved Player Sean Macdonald, import Milton Doyle starting to fire and Majok Deng stepping it up has seen the JackJumpers bounce back to 7-8 on the season, with four straight wins under their belts.
Magnay has been a key piece in the JackJumpers’ resurgence heading, with 18 points and 13 rebounds against the Taipans.
The JackJumpers next face the New Zealand Breakers on Thursday night at 5:30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
