Lual-Acuil Jr's big call

Tuesday, April 9, 2024
Melbourne United star Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. has made a huge call regarding his playing future.
Jo Lual-Acuil Jr is set to pursue opportunities overseas, choosing to decline his player option with Melbourne United for NBL25.
The 29-year-old was part of United's roster that finished runner-up in the recent Championship Series against Tasmania, and averaged 14.5 points and 7.7 rebounds a game across NBL24.
It's a cruel blow to Melbourne, who could potentially lose fellow big man Ariel Hukporti if he's selected in the NBA Draft in July.
“Melbourne United will always be a special place for me,” Lual-Acuil Jr said.
“At this time however, it’s the best decision at this point in my career for me to explore my options overseas.”
Zac Triplett and Malith Machar have both had their club options declined, while Tanner Krebs has picked up third-year player option, keeping him at United through to the end of NBL26.
