“Level-headed” Bullets target Wildcats

Thursday, January 18, 2024
Two-time Wildcats champion will carry some extra emotion into Friday night's game.
The Brisbane Bullets have an almighty task ahead of them to claim their fifth win in a row for the first time since 2020, facing the Perth Wildcats in enemy territory on Friday night.
The Bullets are eying a top-six spot after an impressive run of form, and 30-year-old guard Mitch Norton has praised the playing group for remaining “level-headed” through the highs and lows of NBL24.
“In this league you get brought back down to earth pretty quick, and I think we’ve done a really good job throughout this four-game win streak of staying level-headed,” Norton said via 4BC Brisbane.
“We call it red lining, you’re not too high, you’re not too low.
“It’s a fun time to be a Brisbane Bullet.”
The two-time Wildcats champion will carry some extra emotion into the game. He already returned to his old stomping ground back in October, the start of a three-game winning run. Now, the Bullets are on the verge of a five-game streak.
“I’ve got some close friends on that [Perth] roster who I’ve won multiple championships with,” he said.
“I’m really happy to be here in Brisbane and happy I chose it to be the club to come to.”

The Bullets are one of just two teams to defeat Perth at RAC Arena this season. But they'll need to make it two to keep their Finals hopes on track.
That challenge doesn't get any easier with the absence of Casey Prather and Rocco Zikarsky due to illness.
“It would be huge. Anytime you do get a win in Perth, that’s a major feat in itself, let alone to try and get two,” Norton said.
Perth sits second on the ladder, while the Bullets are building in fifth.
The teams will go head-to-head in a vital clash at 9:30pm AEDT on Friday night. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN via Kayo.
