Lamb injury severity revealed

Wednesday, February 7, 2024
Mody Maor has confirmed Anthony Lamb has ruptured his Achilles.
New Zealand head coach Mody Maor has confirmed Breakers' fans worst fears, announcing star import forward Anthony Lamb has suffered a full Achilles rupture.
Lamb was forced from the floor just eight minutes into New Zealand’s Round 18 victory over Perth, and was sighted back on the bench wearing a moon boot.
The former Golden State Warrior was initially signed by the Breakers as an injury replacement player for fellow import Justinian Jessup, and Maor confirmed Lamb would undergo surgery.
“He tore his Achilles, it’s a full rupture which means we’re going down the route of surgery and recovery,” Maor said.
“We’re all a little bit heartbroken for Anthony, this is the first time he’s stepped outside of the US to play, he obviously played very well, there were a lot of great options ahead of him, but in today’s basketball this is not the end of anything.
“He’ll go through a nice rehab for nine months and he’ll come back on the other side of it a better player and I’m sure he’s going to do great.”
The Breakers face a double-header in each of the final two rounds of the season in their attempt to secure a Finals berth.
They next hit the court on Friday against Illawarra at 5:30pm AEDT.
