Scott Roth has confirmed the Tasmania JackJumpers are set to offer contracts to local duo Tre Armstrong and Kye Savage this week.

23-year-old, Armstrong, spent the past four seasons playing in the NCAA, and has averaged 17 points and five rebounds for the North-West Tasmania Thunder in the NBL1 competition.

Armstrong and Savage are teammates at the Thunder, where the latter has averaged 11 points a game.

Savage is a rising-star at just 17 years of age, having recently led the country in scoring at the under-20 National Championships, with over 30 points a game.

“We looked at about seven or eight guys but we’ve narrowed it down to two or three guys that we currently either have offers in front of or who will have offers in the next 24 hours,” Roth said on Monday.

“I can confirm we’ll offer a Developmental contract to Tre [Armstrong] at some point this week and also Kye Savage and see where they sit and see what their thoughts are.

“I know they wanted to play a little bit longer [in the current NBL1 season] and see if they can get a [fully contracted] roster spot which is perfectly fine and we’ll wait for them and let them make their decisions.”

Roth confirmed the JackJumpers would also chase the signature of Taran Armstrong, 21, who played the last two seasons with brother Tre at the California Baptist Lancers.

Taran averaged 11.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists in the most recent NCAA campaign.
