JackJumpers need “wholesale changes”

“I think the reality is now they need to maybe look at some changes, some wholesale changes, to get some fresh blood in there."

The Tasmania JackJumpers need “wholesale changes” this offseason according to 1990 NBL MVP Derek Rucker.

The JackJumpers have had an incredible three-year run in the league, including winning last season’s championship, making two Championship Series, and making three Finals series.

However, with a lengthy injury list and a four-game losing streak, Tasmania has slipped to seventh and Rucker believes it might be time for significant roster changes.

“That championship team, you love nothing more than to see those guys continue a run and try and maintain the same core group of players,” Rucker said on Moments That Mattered.

“I think the reality is now they need to maybe look at some changes, some wholesale changes, to get some fresh blood in there.

“It's been a disappointing second half of the season for the JackJumpers, especially when they went on that eight-game win streak, but the injuries also kind of caught them.

“It's just been a very confusing situation, but the bottom line is they're probably gonna miss out on the top six and find themselves not being able to defend their title.”

The JackJumpers host the Illawarra Hawks on Thursday night at 7:30pm AEDT live on ESPN.
