Aussies Abroad: Landale scores double-double

Monday, February 10, 2025
Jock Landale landed a double-double in his Houston Rockets' win over the Toronto Raptors.
Australian Jock Landale has benefited from a rare opportunity, posting a double-double for the short-handed Houston Rockets as they snapped a six-game skid with a 94-87 NBA win over Toronto.
Landale had 11 points and a season-best 10 rebounds in his 24 minutes on court after starting centre Alperen Sengun departed in the first quarter of Sunday's home game with back spasms.
The 29-year-old has averaged just under 10 minutes for 3.5 points in his appearances this season but has stiff internal competition with Sengun and Kiwi big man Steven Adams also at the Rockets (33-20), who sit fifth in the Western Conference standings.
Adams was rested after playing the previous night.
Also filling in for Sengun, Jeff Green had a season-high 14 points.
Houston were also without Fred VanVleet (ankle) for a fifth straight game, but Dillon Brooks led the way with 19 points and Jalen Green added 18.
The lowly Raptors (16-37) made just eight of 42 three-point attempts.
It was one of just three NBA games played on NFL Super Bowl day.
Damian Lillard scored a season-high 43 points to go along with eight assists and seven rebounds for Milwaukee as they beat the Philadelphia 76ers at home, 135-127.
The Bucks were missing two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo for a fourth straight game as he deals with a strained left calf.
Cade Cunningham had 19 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds - his eighth triple-double of the season - as his hosting Detroit Pistons beat the short-handed Charlotte Hornets 112-102.
