The Tasmania JackJumpers have rounded out their roster for the upcoming season, signing talented guard Walter Brown as a development player.

Brown will join John Tomasi and Sean MacDonald as development players plying their trade with the JackJumpers, as the NBL's newest side looks to build on it's exciting journey to the grand final in season one.

The club completed its first ever development player trials earlier this year, from which Tomasi was selected. The six-foot-three Brown, who hails from New Zealand, was invited to train with the side in mid-August.

He recently completed his second season in the NZNBL, where he averaged over seven points and three rebounds per game for the Canterbury Rams.

JackJumpers coach Scott Roth says Brown is a strong culture fit for the organisation.

“We feel Walter brings a really competitive edge to our group. He’s an underdog who has been eager for an opportunity in the NBL and we’re pleased to have him here in Tasmania,” Roth said.

“He’s a really athletic wing who has that grit and grind mentality that our program is built on.

“Walter is the last piece of the puzzle and we’re really pleased with the group we have brought together. The guys are already gelling well together in the initial week of practice but there is a long way to go and a lot of work to do before October 1.”
