Former Melbourne, New Zealand and Perth centre Majok Majok has joined Tasmania as on a short-term NRP deal.

The Tasmania JackJumpers have beefed up their stock of bigs heading into NBL24 with the signing of veteran centre Majok Majok as a short-term nominated replacement player (NRP).

An NRP is eligible to train full-time with the club for the duration of their contract, but can only be elevated to the main roster and suit up for games if another player is injured.

Majok, 30, has played 185 NBL games across seven seasons for Melbourne, New Zealand and Perth, and is a two-time NBL champion.

“Majok is a great inclusion to our program with his size and athleticism, and we’re excited to bring in someone of his talent and experience,” JackJumpers co-CEO Jorrick Chivers said.

“He will be a great addition, especially while Majok Deng and Junior Madut are on national duties at the World Cup, and to give Will Magnay ample time to recover from his foot injury.”

Majok played the 2023 NBL1 North season as a member of the North Gold Coast Seahawks where he finished second in the league for rebounds per game with 11.7.

He has joined former Melbourne United guard Lachie Barker in signing for the JackJumpers as an NRP.
