JackJumpers commit to championship hero

Thursday, April 11, 2024
Majok Deng has signed a new two-year deal with the Tasmania JackJumpers.
One of Tasmania’s championship heroes has committed his future to the club following his experience of the ultimate NBL success, with Majok Deng signed a two-year deal to remain at the JackJumpers.
Deng was signed by the club on the eve of the NBL24 season, after which Scott Roth said the sharpshooting veteran was “a piece of gold” that “no one wanted”.
The former Taipan and 36er has since written himself into Tasmanian sporting folklore with his performances during the NBL24 Finals, following the injury suffered to starting center Marcus Lee.
He first exploded for 18 points in Tasmania’s Game 2 Playoff win over Perth, before scoring 15 points in the final quarter of the JackJumpers’ Game 3 Championship Series win over Melbourne.
“I’m really excited to stay in Tassie and continue to build on the success we’ve had this year” Deng said.
“Tasmania has been amazing; the state and the people have welcomed me and my family here and we’re really excited to be coming back and have that security over the next two years.
“It’s not just the on-court stuff, it’s the off the court stuff as well that made the decision to come back very easy. My family love it, my son Junior particularly, everything is JackJumpers for him, so it’s a no-brainer to continue that and it’s very special to me”.
