After initially signing with the Tasmania JackJumpers as a nominated replacement player, Isaac White will be extending his stay at the club after converting his deal into a development player position.

White initially signed with the JackJumpers due to an injury club captain Clint Steindl sustained on Boomers duty, and has impressed head coach Scott Roth enough to extend his stay on the island.

He joins Sean Macdonald, Josh Tomasi and Walter Brown in the development player roles for the club.

“We’re really pleased with how Isaac has fitted into the group, our systems and the Tasmanian way of life. He really has taken the opportunity with both hands and we’re excited that he will be with us for the entire NBL season” Roth said.

“We believe he will be a real asset for us off the bench. We always knew his offensive game was excellent, but his defensive tenacity is really developing well also”.

White began his professional career with the  Illawarra Hawks after graduating from Stanford University. Over the past two seasons in Illawarra he’s gained a reputation as a sharpshooting guard who brings great energy to the court.

He says he’s proud to have signed on with Tasmania for the rest of the season.

“I’ve absolutely loved my time with the JackJumpers so far, it’s been an incredible few months learning what this state is all about and being embraced by the club and fans” White said.

“It’s great to have some assurance that I’m here for the longer term and I’m really excited about what this group can achieve this season”.

The JackJumpers travel to John Cain Arena for the opening fixture of the NBL season, where they will take on South East Melbourne on Saturday, October 1.
