"I felt a pop": Doolittle reveals injury extent

Kristian Doolittle last played on December 6 against the Illawarra Hawks, but will miss the return leg on Sunday

The Perth Wildcats don’t have a clear timeline for Kristian Doolittle’s return, but expect their star import to remain out for “weeks”, according to coach John Rillie.

Doolittle last played on December 6 against the Illawarra Hawks, but will miss the return leg on Sunday, revealing the extent of the injury in an interview with the West Australian

“I was off balance when I tried to plant my foot and that caused my right leg to open up more than it should. I felt a pop in my groin and knew it wasn’t good,” Doolittle explained.

“The body is doing better. I’m healing fairly fast considering the injury that I had. I’m doing my rehab and trying to rest as much as possible, while also gearing up for a return.”

The Wildcats copped another blow on Thursday, with the news Tai Webster is set to be out for the next month with a hamstring issue.

It’s a bitter blow for Rillie’s team, despite their strong recent form and having solidified a spot in the top four.

Doolittle says he will continue to travel with the team in a bid to stay involved, as they prepare for a huge clash against Illawarra on Sunday afternoon at 2.30pm AEDT.

The game will be live on ESPN, 10 & 10 Play.
