"I really believe in what’s being built here and I look forward to being a part of some success with the Phoenix."

South East Melbourne Phoenix big man Jordan Hunter has committed his future to club, with the Asia-out clauses removed from his contract.

Hunter will remain at the Phoenix until the end of the NBL27 season.

“It’s a great sign for the club that someone who is in such high demand has opted to eliminate the exit clauses from his contract and remain fully committed to the program,” South East Melbourne's General Manager of Basketball Operations, Simon Mitchell told the club's website.

“Jordi has really taken on a leadership role since arriving at the Phoenix. We have watched these qualities develop immensely over the past months and we want to ensure they are a foundation of this team into the future.”

The 27-year-old is a two-time championship winner at the Sydney Kings, and made the move to the Phoenix in the off-season.

Hunter is putting up career-best numbers at his new club, averaging 13.8 points and 8.2 rebounds a game, including a 20-point, 9-rebound haul against Melbourne United on Sunday.

“I really believe in what’s being built here and I look forward to being a part of some success with the Phoenix,” he said.
