After one season with Melbourne, former Sydney and Atlanta centre Isaac Humphries will re-join the Adelaide 36ers for NBL24.
After a Rookie of the Year winning debut season in 2018 with the Kings, Humphries fulfilled his NBA dreams by playing six games – with one start – for the Atlanta Hawks before returning to Australia with the Adelaide 36ers.
In his first season in the City of Churches he established himself as one of the premier defensive bigs in the competition and averaged 13.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game, before injuries restricted him to just six appearances the following season.
Humphries stood tall during Melbourne’s centre crisis early in NBL23, and rebounded from his injury issue36ers s to play 23 games for the campaign – and he registered a competition-leading 40 blocks across the season.
“[We're] super excited to get Isaac back with us, and this is huge for this club,” 36ers head coach CJ Bruton said.
“I didn’t get to work with him much during my first year as coach but his ability to impact a game from the defensive presence to his shot blocking ability to his NBA skillset, I think he is only going to grow and get stronger.
“His ability to be able to change a game is massive and as a club that is something we need.
“The presence of a centre is big for us, we need to be able to guard opposing centres in the NBL and Isaac has proved that while he has been in this league.
“This is a big piece to where we want to be.”
Humphries joins Antonius Cleveland, Robert Franks, Mitch McCarron, Sunday Dech, Nick Marshall, Jason Cadee and Kyrin Galloway as contracted players for the NBL24 season.
