The Illawarra Hawks have re-signed Davo Hickey on a three-year deal.

The Illawarra Hawks' strong base continues to build, with the club re-signing emerging guard Will 'Davo' Hickey.

Hickey has re-signed with the Hawks on a three-year deal and has been a standout in the club's 5-1 start.

The 25-year-old has found his footing in Illawarra, scoring his first extended contract of his career after signing on last season as a full-roster player. The year before he was brought into the club as a Development Player.

“Knowing the club respects and sees what I’ve been doing is a massive thing for me. I’m just really excited to be here for the next couple of years, to have that security, and start setting some things up in my own life and career,” Hickey said.

“It’s the first extended contract in my career, so it feels like all that hard work, all that sacrifice over all those years has been worth it."

Averaging 7.7 points on 50 per cent shooting, Hickey's best game of the season came when the Hawks handed Tasmania its biggest ever loss. He contributed 15 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

“Davo has become a huge part of our team and plays an important role both on and off the court,” Tatum said.

“His passion is there for everyone to see, and the team loves that just like the fans do.

“He has worked tirelessly during my time coaching with him to prove himself not only to me, but to his teammates. I can rely on him to do his job and support the team, and he is really contributing to our current success.

“I am looking forward to seeing what he can do with his time locked in at the Hawks. He is a great player and has a long career ahead of him."

The Hawks take on Melbourne United on Thursday night at 7:30pm AEDT, live on ESPN via Kayo.
