Hawks ready for history

Tuesday, February 4, 2025
"The boys are mentally prepared. They know what's at stake."
Justin Tatum has vowed the Illawarra Hawks are ready to secure first spot on the ladder in Wednesday night’s clash with the New Zealand Breakers.
A Hawks win on Wednesday will make it basically impossible for Melbourne United to catch them at the top of the standings, meaning Illawarra will finish first for the first time in franchise history.
With history on the line, Tatum is determined to ensure there’s no slip-ups from his side.
"We want to get the job done on Wednesday. The boys are mentally prepared. They know what's at stake. We want to find a way to stay up top and be the one seed,” Tatum told the Illawarra Mercury.
"I did not think about (creating history) at all, but now hearing it from you or the crowd or the players and things like that, I go home and sit back and subliminally pat myself on the back.”
Tip-off between the Breakers and Hawks is 5:30pm AEDT on Wednesday, live on ESPN.
