The South East Melbourne Phoenix have been buoyed by a pair of key inclusions for their January 16 clash with the Brisbane Bullets, with import guard pairing Gary Browne and Trey Kell have both been listed as active.

Kell has been out of action since the Phoenix’s New Year’s Day clash with Tasmania after suffering a knee injury while Browne has been absent since suffering a calf strain against the Sydney Kings in Round 11.

South East Melbourne has been hit hard by injuries across the entirety of NBL23, from Mitch Creek’s absence in pre-season through consistent issues plaguing the likes of Kell, Browne and former Dallas Maverick Ryan Broekhoff.

The return of the pair comes as the side looks to stake its playoff claims at the end of the season. The Phoenix are currently 10-3 for the campaign when their whole first-choice starting five has been fit.

Monday’s clash with the Bullets is South East Melbourne’s only fixture of Round 15, while Brisbane will have already played twice in the four days leading up to the contest.
