The Australian Gangurrus secured Bronze in the FIBA 3x3 Champions Cup.

The Australian Gangurrus held off Team USA to claim a Bronze medal in the FIBA 3x3 Champions Cup over the weekend in a one-point thriller.

Representing Australia was Josh Davey alongside a Cairns Taipans trio of Alex Higgins-Titsha, Jonah Antonio and Dylan Stith. The team was coached by former Taipans leading man, Adam Forde.

After a tough loss to France early in the tournament, the Gangurrus fought back to set up a showdown with Serbia for a spot in the Gold-medal game. However, they fell agonizingly short, going down by one in overtime, which set up their Bronze medal showdown with USA.

This time they found themselves on the other side of a nail-biting finish, with Stith knocking down a free-throw to secure the Bronze medal for Australia.

Higgins-Titsha’s outstanding play was rightly rewarded with a place on the ‘Team of the Tournament.”

The women also managed to secure a Bronze medal, with a one-point win over Germany. Meila Sowah was selected on the ‘Team of the Tournament” as head coach Damon Lowery secures yet another podium finish.
