Front Court the Focus for Wildcats

Perth Wildcats GM of Basketball Operations Danny Mills has said the focus for his team is to fill their remaining two import spots with front court players.

Speaking to 91.3 Sports Breakfast radio, Mills said their next item of business would be signing two imports, a power forward and centre ahead of NBL23 with their local contingent locked away following Corey Webster signing last week.

Mills indicated he and some of the coaching staff would travel to NBA Summer League in Las Vegas next month to continue their import search.

"We need to address our front court and that's what we'll do with our last two import spots. We're in the market now looking for a couple of foreigners at the four and the five. That's going to be the next order of business.

"We're canvassing the market at the moment, talking to a lot of people, watching players. Myself and a few of the coaches will head over to Summer League in Las Vegas and scout that as well," Mills said.

Speaking on the recruitment, Mills pointed to the Wildcats history and city of Perth as key selling points when speaking with prospective players.

"It's quite dynamic the process that you go through. I think we are fortunate. We're at a great Club when people learn about it and you start to talk about Perth their eyes light up. This is a place they'd love to place and also a place they'd love to bring their family and live."

The Wildcats have two contracted spots remaining on their rosters, in addition to Development Players which the Club is also recruiting for.

Perth made their biggest move immediately after the season locking in Bryce Cotton for another three years. He joins Mitch Norton, Kyle Zunic, Todd Blanchfield, Majok Majok, Luke Travers, Jesse Wagstaff, Corey Shervill and Corey Webster on the Wildcats roster as it stands.
