"I love Wollongong".

Illawarra star Sam Froling isn’t focused on talks surrounding his new contract, instead giving his full attention to the Hawks’ championship charge.

Froling is set to be in high demand in free agency, with ESPN reporting Illawarra’s initial offer to the 24-year-old was “well below his market value” but “the two parties remain in good faith talks with regard to a potential extension”.

As the negotiations continue to take place, Froling’s immediate goal is to help lead the Hawks to their second championship in franchise history.

"Right now, I'm focused on this season and getting us as far as possible. I have plenty of time to worry about (my contract) after the season. Right now, it's just focusing on winning these upcoming games," Froling said via the Illawarra Mercury.

The Mercury also reported Froling’s preference was to stay with the Hawks, saying "I love Wollongong".

The Hawks face the JackJumpers tonight at 7:30pm AEDT live on ESPN.
