Door ajar for John Wall, Phoenix

South East Melbourne owner Romie Chaudhari has revealed the “door’s not closed” on John Wall potentially signing with the Phoenix in the future.  

Wall is a part of South East Melbourne’s ownership group, and the five-time NBA All-Star will always be part of Chaudhari’s recruitment pitches for the Phoenix roster. 

“You never know. When I go back, I'll always bring it up. The door is not closed,” Chaudhari told The Phoenix Files.

“I haven’t talked to him recently at all. So when I say the door's not closed, it's because it hasn't been discussed since that time, so you never know. He's a great guy, man.”

That time Chaudhari refers to is a window where discussions took place between both parties on Wall coming to the NBL. 

“Timing wasn't right, but there was a window. I'll say that,” he said.

“It was discussed, and there was an opportunity, but the stars didn't align. I thought it would have been a great story all the way around for everybody, including him and for his career.”

The 34-year-old Wall last played in the NBA for the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2022/23 season.
