Doolittle wants to do more

Friday, October 13, 2023
"As I get more comfortable, I’ll definitely be looking to shoot more".
Perth Wildcats import Kristian Doolittle has revealed he will look to assert himself more offensively, as he gains comfort in John Rillie’s system.
Doolittle joined the Wildcats just days before their season-opener and has taken just eight field goal attempts in his three games. The 25-year-old scored four points against Tasmania, seven against South East Melbourne and went scoreless in his last outing against Adelaide.
While he concedes not hitting the score sheet last Friday night was frustrating, Doolittle has been reassured he is still making a positive impact and knows more offensive opportunities will present.
“I was definitely hard on myself after the last game. Nobody wants to miss every shot that they take,” Doolittle said via The West Australian.
“My coaching staff let me know that I impacted the game in different ways and not to be too hard on myself. As I go forward, I’ll keep in mind that not everything is based on scoring. I feel like one of the aspects I can bring by not scoring is holding my opponent to not scoring as much.

“Knowing where my shots will come from and knowing my spots on the floor, it varies from team to team. It comes with building camaraderie with my teammates as well and the flow of the offence that we run. As I get more comfortable, I’ll definitely be looking to shoot more.”
Perth is stacked with offensive talent including three-time MVP Bryce Cotton, the Webster brothers, Jordan Usher, Keanu Pinder, and NBL Next Star Alex Sarr.
The Wildcats sit second in the league for points per game and third in offensive rating, which calculates points scored per 100 possessions.
Perth hosts Melbourne United on Friday night at 9:30pm AEDT, live on ESPN via Kayo Sports.
