Dethrone the Kings: Bullets’ revenge mission

Thursday, December 12, 2024

"Sydney was the team that came into our home and embarrassed us in front of our home crowd."

It's been quite the rise for the Brisbane Bullets, with three straight wins for the first time this season and in fifth place on the NBL standings.

Keandre Cook had 33 points in the win over the Phoenix, while Tyrell Harrison (23 points, 12 rebounds) is in the best form of his career.

With James Batemon and Casey Prather firing too, the Bullets are in a great place coming into the second half of the season.

“The best thing about tonight for us, is that it’s our first series win of the year,” Justin Schueller said following Thursday night's victory.

Brisbane won’t have much time to soak in its impressive win, as they get ready to take on Sydney on Sunday.

“Sydney was the team that came into our home and embarrassed us in front of our home crowd,” James Batemon said.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to go back and try correct the mistakes that we made.

“But they came out and punked us right away from the start.”

It was back in Round 3 where Sydney held a double-digit lead by half-time and came away with a comprehensive victory, after withstanding a comeback attempt from Brisbane.

Schueller understands how big of a test it will be for his squad and it’s one that he’s looking forward to.

“Going into Sydney, it’s a tough arena,” he added.

“It’s the first time for some of our guys and a great opportunity again to get some lessons.”

With all the firepower that the Kings' roster has, Schueller says his team’s focus doesn’t change, no matter who they play.

“Honestly, it’s all about us, and we say this every time,” he said.

“We will always look at what they’re doing, but we will really look at where we were great and where we weren’t.”

Brisbane travels to Sydney on Sunday, with tip-off from 4.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN, 10 Bold and 10 Play.
