Delany Eyeing Europe: Santamaria

NBL analyst Liam Santamaria has revealed Finn Delany is looking to head to Europe after knocking back a contract offer from the Perth Wildcats.

Delany has played for the New Zealand Breakers since 2015 and made the All-NBL Second Team in 2021.

Speaking on NBL Free Agency Market Watch, Santamaria said the 26-year-old is keen for a new challenge.

"He (Delany) wants to go to Europe," Santamaria said.

"He is at a point in his life where he wants to test his game at the European level.

"That’s not to say teams in the league aren’t asking the question. The Perth Wildcats made a good strong offer, is my understanding… (but that) didn’t get to where it needed to be."

In better news for the Wildcats, Santamaria believes the club is close to re-signing forward Todd Blanchfield.
