Former Sydney Kings star and NBL MVP Xavier Cooks has been waived by the Washington Wizards.

NBL23 MVP Xavier Cooks is sure to have his signature in high demand, after being waived by the Washington Wizards.

Cooks was signed to a four-year deal with the Wizards in March and had shown promising signs in the back half of the NBA season, averaging 3.8 points and 3.8 rebounds a game, across ten appearances.

He was one of the stars of the Sydney Kings' back-to-back Championship run across NBL23, averaging 16.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists.

There's been mixed news for ex NBL stars over the past day, with Josh Giddey and Ousmane Dieng having their team options taken by the Oklahoma City Thunder, while Duop Reath and Jack White were waived by their respective teams.

ESPN Insider Adrian Wojnarowski has since reported Reath has signed a two-way contract with the Trailblazers.
