The Brisbane Bullets have continued their emerging trend of signing young, defensive-minded players with the recruitment of collegiate talent Josh Bannan.

Bannan, who has represented the Montana Grizzlies at NCAA level for the past three years, was named to the All-Big Sky Conference team this past season after averaging 15 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

The 22-year-old spent time playing under new Brisbane coach Justin Schueller as a member of the Australian Under 17’s FIBA World Cup campaign in 2018.

“I feel like Brisbane provides and exciting opportunity to begin my professional career,” Bannan said.

“With the new coaching staff, I believe it will give me the chance to develop and contribute to winning straight away.

“I can’t wait to play at Nissan Arena and represent the city of Brisbane.”

“I have known Josh for a long time,” Schueller added. “[He] is the standout college recruit this year and I couldn’t be happier that he will be joining us.

“He is a highly skilled player with great versatility and a high-level competitor … he has always been of high character and will be a fan favourite and key piece for this club for years to come.”

Bannan joins former Tasmania JackJumpers pair Isaac White and Sam McDaniel in joining the Bullets for NBL24, while Aron Baynes, Nathan Sobey, Tyrell Harrison and DJ Mitchell will all continue with the club next season.
