Clark, United ready for Ant Army

Friday, March 22, 2024
Ian Clark will be drawing upon his Championship Series experience against Tasmania, while at the Sydney Kings.
Melbourne United’s roster is littered with players who have been there, done that, and reeieved the proverbial t-shirt, but no player has more big-game knowledge than the competition’s Best Sixth Man, Ian Clark.
Aside from his experience in helping the Golden State Warriors to the 2017 NBA title, he’s the only person on this Melbourne roster who knows exactly what a Championship Series clash at MyState Bank Arena contains.
The import guard was a crucial cog in Sydney’s NBL22 triumph over Tasmania, in which the JackJumpers defeated Melbourne United in the Playoffs before, being swept aside by the Kings.
He says he’s going to ensure his teammates are ready to walk into the hostile Hobart environment.
“It’s loud, I had my fair share of it a couple years ago when I was in Sydney and I’m expecting it to be the same,” Clark told News Corp.
“Some of these other guys haven’t been in that environment and are going into it for the first time, so it’s just making sure that they’re ready for it.
“We’ve got some guys who have experience with it and we go down there with a 0-0 mindset, knowing that they’re going to come out hard and knowing we’ve got to make sure we hit the first punch.”
Game 2 of Melbourne’s Championship Series against Tasmania will tip off at 7:30pm AEDT on Friday, live on ESPN via Kayo. Watch the Coca-Cola Pre-Game Show from 7pm AEDT.
