Keanu Pinder – 17 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists | 50 SuperCoach points per game

The Perth Wildcats may have failed to get the win over Adelaide on Saturday night, but the Red Army will be able to take some solace in the fact Keanu Pinder played what is likely his best performance to date for his new club.

After enduring a string of unrelated and unlucky injuries over the back-end of NBL23 and the pre-season heading into NBL24, Pinder’s rise back to form has been a bit of a slow burn for the Wildcats, but with a few games now under his belt with his new team, coach and system, the back-to-back Most Improved Player is looking like a force again.

The Wildcats have continued to struggle to control the boards this season, but Pinder’s 13 rebounds – which was more than double any of his teammates – helped keep them in the game until Adelaide ran away with an 11-point win in the fourth quarter.

Jordon Crawford – 32 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists | 48 SuperCoach points per game

The longer the season goes, the better Jordon Crawford is becoming – and that’s a scary prospect for any NBL team not named Tasmania.

The sparkplug guard was a solid performer across the first three quarters of Tasmania’s win over Sydney, and played a strong supporting role as the likes of Clint Steindl, Milton Doyle and Majok Deng each took turns hurting the Kings on the scoreboard.

But at the start of the fourth quarter with the game in the balance, enter Crawford.

He dropped four threes in the first two minutes of the final term, and added another tough field goal to add 14 points in the first two minutes and 30 seconds to take the game away from the Kings – and although the reigning champs fought back late, the damage was done.

Parker Jackson-Cartwright – 18 points, 5 assists, 5 steals | 45 SuperCoach points per game

The New Zealand Breakers were back on NBL soil in Round 4, and Parker Jackson-Cartwright once again proved his performances prior to the NBLxNBA series were no flash in the pan.

While the guard is a great offensive performer, he has ridiculously fast and active hands on defence and is an absolute steals phenom.

Derek Rucker said he believed ‘PJC’ could be an MVP candidate after Round 1, and following the Breakers import’s performances since in both the NBLxNBA series, and against Melbourne on the weekend – the former MVP himself could well be on the money.

Zylan Cheatham – 30 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists | 45 SuperCoach points per game

Zylan Cheatham stole headlines and media space in the NBL Blitz for his incredible athleticism and spectacular dunks, but the former New Orleans Pelican has proven he’s far more than just a rim-runner.

Cheatham starred alongside Jackson-Cartwright in the defeat to Melbourne on Sunday and continued to chip away on offence until he had a game-high 30 points.

Almost more impressively, he shone whenever he stepped out from the paint to hit all three of his three-point attempts, and dropped nine of ten free throws to help bring his side back into the game after a sluggish start.

Gary Clark – 17 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals | 39 Supercoach points per game

The Illawarra Hawks have returned to the position they occupied for much of NBL23 – the bottom of the ladder.

One major difference between last season and the new campaign is the bright spot that is the continued strong performances of import forward Gary Clark.

The former Houston Rocket has found his niche within the Hawks’ offence and has offered a consistent scoring punch alongside the more streaky Tyler Harvey and Justin Robinson, and was Illawarra’s go-to man when the going got tough in the second quarter against United on Friday.

If Clark’s teammates can rise to his level, Illawarra won’t be on the bottom for long.

Jaylen Adams – 21 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists | 38 SuperCoach points per game

The more things change, the more they stay the same – and Jaylen Adams is continuing to show why he was the NBL22 MVP.

Adams has earned his third Chemist Warehouse Fans MVP nomination in the last three weeks, and was crucial in the Kings’ run late in the game to trim the margin to 10 against the JackJumpers.

Although his shot wasn’t falling at the rate he would have liked at 34 per cent for the game, Adams continued to find ways to put the JackJumpers defence to the sword whenever he was afforded time and space, and won an impressive trio of offensive rebounds despite his stature when compared to Tasmania’s inside bodies.

Adams just finds ways to put his team in positions to win games – and if it wasn’t for Jordon Crawford’s ridiculous opening to the final term, the Kings could have walked away with this one.

Alan Williams – 18 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3 assists per game | 37 SuperCoach points per game

Welcome back to the NBL floor, Alan Williams. Fans have been made to wait to see ‘Big Sauce’ in NBL24 as the former NBA centre recovered from a knee injury, but he was back doing what he does in Round 4.

The Phoenix look to be a totally different type of opponent when Williams is on the floor, and the impending one-two punch of he and Gorjok Gak at the centre spot should now be striking fear into opposition NBL sides.

Williams opened his season with the type of 15-point, 13 rebound double-double we’ve all come to expect from him in the win over Adelaide, before backing up with a team-high 21 points in the win over the Bullets.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Floater alert ?<br><br>Alan Williams is up to 10 points mid-way through the second quarter ?<br><br>Watch live on ESPN via Kayo ? <a href="https://t.co/xCTukSWHHF">pic.twitter.com/xCTukSWHHF</a></p>&mdash; NBL (@NBL) <a href="https://twitter.com/NBL/status/1715626105841877252?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">October 21, 2023</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Denzel Valentine – 12 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists | 33 SuperCoach points per game

With the stardom of Jaylen Adams and the form of the likes of Alex Toohey, Jaylin Galloway and Jordan Hunter this season, Denzel Valentine has been flying somewhat under the radar for the Sydney Kings this season – but he’s been at the coalface helping get the job done in all aspects of the game.

Valentine may have arrived in the NBL with a reputation as a trigger-happy shooter, but he’s an incredibly calming presence on this fast-paced Kings offence, and is just as likely to make a ridiculous pass as he is a long three.

This is already the second time he's been nominated this season.
