By the Numbers: Day 8 (Summer League, 2023)

Sunday, July 16, 2023
It was another big day for the Australian and NBL contingent at the NBA's Summer League on Saturday.
Former Sydney guard DJ Vasiljevic finally earned his Summer League chance with the Wizards today, and he made the most of his time on court with the type of exceptional offensive performance NBL fans know he is consistently capable of.
The two-time NBL champion proved to be the difference-maker in Washington’s 16-point win over Oklahoma City, by scoring 14 points in just 11 minutes of action.

Vailjevic made five of his six attempts – including four of five three-pointers – and also added three rebounds and two assists.
Xavier Cooks did not feature in the victory for the Wizards, due to being moved to the inactive list for the remainder of the tournament.
Former Next Star Ousmane Dieng was once again one of the Thunder’s top performers and was a bright point in the defeat.
He added 17 points, five rebounds and five assists in over 28 minutes of action for Oklahoma City.
Former Adelaide and Cairns Next Star Mojave King continued his solid run of minutes across Indiana’s last few games, but was powerless to stop the Dallas Mavericks from cantering to a 21-point win over the Pacers.
King played 12 minutes in the defeat and added five points and one assist.
Makur Maker once again played an efficient 11 minutes for Philadelphia – this time in the 76ers’ loss to the Clippers.
Maker hit both of his shots from the field, to end the game with six points, while also pulling in six rebounds.
Incoming Illawarra wing Hyunjung Lee remained on the bench for the 76ers in the defeat.
Cairns forward Sam Waardenburg recently made his return from a minor injury to the Summer League court for the Minnesota Timberwolves, but reigning NBL Most Improved player Keanu Pinder registered another DNP for the Phoenix Suns.
Pinder arrived in Las Vegas following an off-season stint in Spain, and has been reportedly battling back issues for the entirety of the tournament so far.
NBL23 Breakers import Barry Brown Jr did hit the court for the Suns against the Utah Jazz though, and added 10 points in the four-point loss.
Ex-South East Melbourne guard Keifer Sykes played a limited role in Detroit’s victory over Mat Nielsen’s San Antonio Spurs, but finished with three points and a pair of rebounds in just under eight minutes of action.
