Bunnings nails NBL extension

Friday, November 8, 2024
Bunnings Warehouse will enter its seventh season in partnership with the NBL, with the return of the Backing Ballers program.
Bunnings Warehouse is set to build on the momentum and growth of the National Basketball League (NBL), continuing its partnership into its seventh season with the exciting return and evolution of Bunnings Backing Ballers, offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience for young NBL fans.
Bunnings Backing Ballers, in partnership with NBL, will provide 1,850 junior basketball players (5-12 year-olds) an unrivalled NBL experience to shoot hoops post-match on court with NBL players across 37 games throughout the season.
Young fans and their families will enjoy complimentary tickets to NBL games and exclusive Bunnings Backing Ballers merch, including a headband and a Backing Ballers basketball singlet. What’s more, after watching the pros, participants will get to emulate their favourite NBL stars by stepping onto the court after the final buzzer and having a shoot around with players.
Ryan Baker, Chief Operating Officer at Bunnings, commented on the extended partnership and evolution of the Backing Ballers program: “We know the important role that local junior sport plays in bringing communities together, and that special experiences for young ballers can live long in the memory, helping to grow their passion for the game, to continue playing and build their connection to the local basketball community for many years to come.
“As the NBL continues to grow its devoted community in Australia and New Zealand, we’re really pleased to extend our partnership and provide an exciting opportunity for junior and aspiring players to experience game day like never before, by evolving the popular Backing Ballers program.
“The lucky participants that are chosen will get the full game day experience, culminating in the chance to shoot hoops with their basketball heroes. From the moment they arrive at the arena to the moment they leave, we hope it will be something they will never forget and inspire young fans to chase their dreams.”
Bunnings have been in partnership with the NBL since 2019 helping it become the fastest growing sporting league in Australia and is now extending its deal as a major partner for a further three seasons.
“We are thrilled to continue our great partnership with Bunnings for three more years,” NBL CEO, David Stevenson said.
“Bunnings’ loyalty and support has been incredible, and we look forward to more success together as we strive to provide the next generation of ballers more opportunity and experiences to enjoy NBL with their families.
“Giving the kids the opportunity to have a shoot-around on the same court as the pros will be an unforgettable experience, and we are really excited to see this program come to life,” Stevenson continued.
Junior NBL fans will be able to apply to be part of the Bunnings Backing Ballers experience, by clicking here.
