Bullet Shoots South to Melbourne

Melbourne United has announced its second new player signing of the day
Melbourne United has announced its second new player signing of the day, with former Brisbane Bullet Tanner Krebs making the move to the NBL21 champions.
Krebs, 27, has spent his whole professional career to date with the Brisbane Bullets and averaged 5.5 points and 2.2 rebounds per game over 68 appearances with the club.
The announcement of Krebs’ three-year deal follows the signing of collegiate guard Flynn Cameron from UC Riverside earlier today.
He won the 2022 NBL1 North championship with the Gold Coast Rollers, and was a member of Australia’s bronze medal winning side at the 2019 Universiade.
"I could tell from the start of free agency that United really wanted me," Krebs said. "It's a big city in a big market, so I can't wait to experience playing at John Cain Arena in front of our fans.
"I'm ready to take the next step in my career. I showed signs of that last season before I got hurt, so I'm really looking forward to putting in the work to put myself in a position to help the club be successful.
United head coach Dean Vickerman says a mixture of Krebs' physical, technical and mental attributes is what made him such a high-priority signing for Melbourne.
"Tanner is a guy coming into his physical prime who has only got better and stronger during his time in the league," Vickerman said.
"We like the shooting he brings ... we envisage him being a real stretch option, shooting off turnouts and on the move.
"I think there's a bit of a dog in him. He wants those tough assignments and wants to lock people up defensively. We feel he's a really good two-way player."
Krebs joins Cameron, Ariel Hukporti, Chris Goulding, Josh Duach, Zac Triplett and Shea Ili on United's roster for NBL24.
