Breakers elevate Darling to full roster spot

Wednesday, August 7, 2024
"I'm looking forward to getting started with 'Coach Kop' and our team this season."
Max Darling has described his elevation to a senior roster spot at the New Zealand Breakers as "an amazing feeling".
The 23-year old spent NBL24 with the Breakers as a development player, but has clearly caught the eye of the decision-makers at the club, signing a two-year contract with a third-year option.
Most recently, he won a championship with the Canterbury Rams in the NZNBL, averaging 9.3 points and 4.7 rebounds across 15 games.
"Max's work ethic and determination were key reasons we have elevated him to the full roster," head coach Petteri Koponen said.
"The BNZ Breakers will always be a primary pathway for the best Kiwi players to secure full-time professional contracts."
New Zealand is close to completing its roster for NBL25, with one import spot remaining, as well as an available Next Star spot.
"It's an amazing feeling to be elevated to a full roster spot," Darling added.
"Reaching this position has been my number one goal, and I'm looking forward to getting started with 'Coach Kop' and our team this season."
