Armstrong sidelined, Taipans name replacement

The Cairns Taipans will be without their “head of the snake” for the start of the Hungry Jack’s NBL Season, after star point guard Taran Armstrong was ruled out with a calf tear.

Armstrong will miss the remainder of the NBL Blitz and the first two games of the regular season, with a return-to-date expectation of October 4.

With Kyle Adnam also sidelined, the Taipans have called in Tad Dufelmeier as a Nominated Injury Replacement Player.

Dufelmeier previously played for the club during the 2020/21 season, before a year with the Adelaide 36ers. 

He averaged 21.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists with the Dandenong Ranges during the NBL1 season.
