36ers need to find “common ground”

Thursday, January 16, 2025
"You guys need to be more professional."
After reports of a heated clash between MVP candidate Kendric Davis and head coach Mike Wells, Derek Rucker believes the Adelaide 36ers need to find a “common ground” to avoid wasting a promising season.
The 36ers sit in 7th spot with every game vital for their Finals push, and Rucker still believes in the overwhelming talent on Adelaide’s roster, but says it needs to come together to finish the season strongly.
“We’ve heard Andrew Bogut say it on a regular basis, they are a team that can still win the championship,” Rucker said on NBL Now.
“That’s how talent-laden they are. But these two guys (Wells and Davis) got to get on the right page. And again, why does this happen after a victory?
“They just had their best victory in years, they performed really well in front of their home crowd. It’s a moment for them to all be elated and build some confidence off of what they just did.
“You’re (Davis) playing really well under your coach. Mike Wells, you’re doing something that’s really good to help Kendric get in this position as a player.
“You guys need to be more professional, come together and find a common ground for the sake of the Adelaide 36ers, because this could be a wasted season.”
Adelaide travels to Perth to face MVP favourite Bryce Cotton and the Wildcats on Friday night at 9:30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
