Tasmania JackJumpers coach Scott Roth is confident of securing the signature of star import Milton Doyle for NBL24.

Tasmania JackJumpers coach Scott Roth is confident of securing the signature of star import Milton Doyle for NBL24.

Doyle, a member of the All NBL First Team, looms as the JackJumpers’ most important signature leading into the Free Agency period, with Rashard Kelly and Josh Magette also out of contract.

“I think we are in good status with ‘Milt’,” Roth said on Friday.

“He is sort of the linchpin with everything that’s going to transpire with us.”

Roth said he was hoping for a decision from Doyle in the next few days, as Tasmania prepares to re-tool its roster.

The JackJumpers made their second successive finals campaign this season, and will look to local talent to take its roster to another level.

Tasmanians Tre (22) and Taran Armstrong (21) are among those in the mix for spots.

“I’ll be spending some time in the north of the state in the next few weeks and will have time to speak to Tre. We have a list (of players) and I’m not going to divulge it but the number one thing for me is to try and get Milton Doyle over the line,” Roth added.

Tasmania announced the re-signing of Fabijan Krslovic during the week, while Sam McDaniel will look for other opportunities after a tough season with injury.

NBL Free Agency opens on March 30, with all team, player and mutual options needing to be confirmed by March 27.
