Phoenix must win “WWE” style match

"If this was WWE wrestling, this would be the loser leaves town match."

The South East Melbourne Phoenix are in a must-win situation on Saturday night against the Brisbane Bullets, according to 2001 NBL champion Damon Lowery.

Both teams are winless, but the high-powered Phoenix need to make a stand or else their season could be over before it even had a chance to get going.

“If this was WWE wrestling, this would be the loser leaves town match,” Lowery said on NBL Now

“Now, the Phoenix with all that money they spent in the off-season, all that talent on paper, should not be 0-4. But the game ain’t played on paper as we know.

“Mike Kelly and his troops can ill-afford to lose to the bottom team.”

Lowery believes South East Melbourne will secures its first victory, thanks to an “extra charged up” Nathan Sobey facing his former team and the Phoenix having too much “firepower”.

On Thursday, Sobey had one final shot at his former coach Justin Schueller, saying his off-season comments about his departure from Brisbane were a “dog shot”.

Tip-off between the two winless sides is 8pm AEDT on Saturday night live on ESPN via Kayo.
