NBL Stars Step up in Vegas

Makur Maker, Luke Travers and DJ Vasiljevic were the standouts of the Australian contingent in Las Vegas over the weekend, as the NBA’s Summer League nears its finale.

Cairns Taipans’ star import Tahjere McCall also had a big outing, with the NBL’s best talent on display to scouts and recruiters across the globe.

Makur scored 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds in just 12 minutes of action, as the Chicago Bulls defeated Philadelphia on Sunday, Australian time.

Across five games, Maker averaged 7.2 points and 3.4 rebounds, making strong use of an average of 12 minutes’ game-time per night.

Having recently signed a new three-year deal with Sydney, Vasiljevic hit 11 points in ten minutes against Sacramento.

Travers has been one of the most highly talked about players at Summer League, and continued his impressive tournament. He tallied 14 points and five rebounds in 23 minutes, as Cleveland defeated Atlanta.

McCall, who recently signed a new-two year with the Taipans, had 13 points, six boards and four steals for Washington against Indiana.

It was a slightly quieter night for one of the standouts of the tournament, Jack White, finishing with 6 points and four rebounds in Denver’s loss to Philadelphia.

The Melbourne United youngster has one last chance to impress though, as the Nuggets take on Utah on Monday, Australian time.
