Magnay: "We know what we're doing wrong"

Tuesday, January 16, 2024
Will Magnay has backed Tasmania's "player driven" approach to help turn the JackJumpers' fortunes around.
Tasmania’s Will Magnay has waved away concerns about the current performance levels of the team, and has told News Corp he believes the JackJumpers are currently “in a really good spot”.
The JackJumpers have lost six of their last eight games to get sucked back into the jostling for Play-In positions. They are one of three teams with an 11-11 record on the season so far, and are yet to lose a game by more than eight points.
They endured a double-overtime heartbreak against Illawarra in Round 15, after suffering a loss to a Nathan Sobey-less Brisbane side just two days prior.
“The best teams are player driven and we know what we’re doing wrong, which is what has been so frustrating for us.
“We’re frustrated as a group we can’t pull it all together for 40 minutes. It’s definitely up to us, and we’ll do our best to be more disciplined and finish things off the right way.
“I think people have this perception that because we’re playing the eighth-placed team in the league we should smack them by 20. It’s such a close league ... it’s such a challenging league and if you don’t turn up a team can get a 10-point lead and it’s hard to reel that in.”
