Magnay reveals NBA mindset

NBL champion Will Magnay has opened up on his ambition to return to the NBA.

Tasmania JackJumpers NBL champion Will Magnay has revealed the mental approach he is taking into NBA workouts during the offseason.

Earlier this month, ESPN news breaker Olgun Uluc revealed Magnay has interest from five NBA teams, with workouts with those respective clubs to help determine if the towering big man will return to the Association.

It is part of a busy off-season for the 26-year-old, who has been balancing NBA workouts, the Boomers' Olympic camp, and NBL1 commitments since the JackJumpers’ historic title victory in late March.

Speaking to Newscorp about his NBA ambitions, Magnay declared he will only be focusing on the controllable elements and not stressing over the results.

“It’s always a goal, my mindset with it all is to just attack opportunities, be grateful for them, play my best basketball and if they want to sign me, they’ll sign me, I can’t control that stuff. I’ll put my best foot forward everyday, be the nicest person I can and just do my best,” Magnay said.

Magnay has played one NBA game in his career, representing the New Orleans Pelicans in a March 2021 meeting with the Los Angeles Lakers.

He participated in a Boomers camp in California last week alongside Patty Mills, Matthew Dellavedova, Joe Ingles, Matisse Thybulle, Jock Landale and other members of the Australian 17-man Olympic squad.

In his chat with Newscorp, Magnay touched on his Olympic hopes, being in the camp alongside Tasmania teammate Jack McVeigh, and more.
