Sydney Kings icon Brad Rosen will become the club’s third Ring of Honour inductee on Sunday night

Sydney Kings icon Brad Rosen will become the club’s third Ring of Honour inductee on Sunday night, as the Kings celebrate the contributions of the cult hero as part of the NBL’s Heritage Round.

Sitting apart from the club’s Hall of Fame, the Ring of Honour is a fan-voted award that celebrates players' commitments to the club that go further than on-court contributions.

Nicknamed ‘Lightening’, Rosen played 99 games for the Kings across five seasons after making his debut at the age of 24.

He was also a member of the coaching staff during the club’s championship run in the 2002-03 season.

“’Lightening’ Rosen is one of those stories that Hollywood loves,” Kings historian Matt McQuade said.

“From his time as a junior at the City of Sydney Association … from the time the team played its first game in 1988 Brad wanted nothing more than to pull on a Kings jersey.

“Thanks to his blazing speed, tireless work ethic and an intensely competitive nature Brad quickly became a quality backup guard and a fan favourite.

“He even had a group of fans at the old Sydney Entertainment Centre create the ‘Brad Rosen Stand’, such was his popularity.”

Rosen will join fellow former Kings Tommy Garlepp and Ben Knight in the club’s Ring of Honour.
