The Tasmania JackJumpers have offered a contract for the NBL24 season to just one of their imports so far – with the club prioritising the potential return of Milton Doyle over Josh Magette and Rashard Kelly.

Doyle – who earned All-NBL First Team honours in his first season in Australia – was signed for NBL23 alongside Kelly, while Magette was one of the JackJumpers’ first ever players to be signed.

Head coach Scott Roth says the local free agent landscape will determine whether Magette or Kelly return.

“Our exit meetings were very up front … the only one we’ve offered a contract to is Milt,” Roth told News Corp. “We’re hoping to get some news on him in the next week or two, then our focus will turn to our local players.

“We have our local players in free agency and we’ll address our local players as this happens in the next two or three weeks, and/or other free agents from other teams to add on.

“Once we’ve done those two things then we’ll move onto adding an import here or there, depending on what the roster looks like.”

The Tasmania JackJumpers have come fourth in each of their seasons in the NBL.

After making the Championship Series in NBL22, they fell to the New Zealand Breakers in the Playoffs this season.

Doyle has currently linked up with a fellow out of contract import – Perth’s Brady Manek – at Tofas S.K. in the Turkish Basketball Super League.
