JackJumpers back Lee against NBL's best

"If he wants to be one of the best players in the league he has the capability."

The Tasmania JackJumpers’ coaching team have scored a winner in big man Marcus Lee.

The 6’11 former United import entered the League in his prime and in NBL24, will be vital to the JackJumpers chances of a return to the Finals for the third year running.

“I’ve said to Marcus that he can be one of the best players in the league,” Tasmania assistant coach Mark Radford told Code Sports.

“I think he has so much growth and it’s no doubt going to take time. He has played different roles in his pro career so far than what we are asking him to play, with a lot more pressure and getting up the floor,” he said.

Radford praised the 29-year-old’s athleticism for someone of his length, and iterated his ability to change roles on the court for the benefit of the team.

“If he wants to be one of the best players in the league he has the capability. We are going to nurture him that way because we think he has great upside.”

Lee and the Tasmania JackJumpers will be in action on Friday night when they host the Sydney Kings at MyState Bank Arena. Tip-off is 7:30pm AEDT, with coverage starting from 7pm AEDT on ESPN via Kayo.
