Game 1 “free swing” for Wildcats

Game 1 “free swing” for Wildcats

"We’ve got nothing to lose going over there."

Perth Wildcats guard Tai Webster has called the club’s game one Playoff clash against Melbourne United on Thursday night a “free swing”.

The best-of-three series between the two rivals is set to be a fierce one, and Webster has put the pressure on United before the series opener.

“It’s absolutely a free swing. We’ve got nothing to lose going over there,” Webster said.

“We’ve just got to leave it all out there, play our hardest, (and then) re-group and re-calibrate for the second game depending on whatever happens.”

Melbourne had Perth’s number during the regular season, winning all three meetings, but Webster believes that counts for nothing in the post-season.

“It’s completely different to the regular season,” Webster said.

“Obviously we haven’t had the best record against Melbourne during the regular season. They’ve got that hand on us, but that means nothing now.

“It’s the first one to win two games and that’s all that matters. You’ve just got to show up on the day now.”

Game one between United and the Wildcats is on Thursday, February 27, at 7:30pm AEDT live on ESPN.
