Cotton signs overseas as Wildcats wait

Bryce Cotton has reportedly signed a deal overseas, as the Perth Wildcats wait patiently on his decision for NBL26.

Five-time NBL MVP Bryce Cotton has reportedly signed with Mets de Guaynabo in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional, Puerto Rico's top-tier league, according to Channel 10's Lachy Reid.

It comes as the Perth Wildcats wait patiently on his decision for NBL26.

The BCN season ends in July, meaning Cotton would still have time to return for the next NBL season, should he come to an agreement on a new deal with the club.

Earlier this week, Perth Wildcats owner Mark Arena said the club wouldn't rush Cotton in signing a new contract, with the West Australian reporting he would be offered the biggest deal in NBL history.

“We’ve not sat down. We need to certainly do that,” Perth owner Mark Arena told The Dribble Podcast.

“Bryce is in our view the best player in the league and should be compensated as such. That’s such a key part of what does the roster look like. If Bryce is going to re-sign with us, what does the team look like? If he’s not, what does the team look like? It is totally different. But we don’t have any dates yet.”

Cotton is expected to field huge offers from overseas clubs after another incredible season, where he averaged more than 28 points a game and helped the Wildcats to within a shot of a Championship Series berth.
