With the NBL Finals just around the corner, the Cairns Taipans are slithering their way into the postseason high on confidence.
Cairns have been unstoppable recently, riding a six-game winning streak despite the absence of MVP candidate Keanu Pinder.
Taipans forward Majok Deng says the team is ready to keep the good vibes rolling in their final five games of the season.
“The confidence started way before the season did, it is just showing now that we are winning games,” Deng said.
“It is good to see that things are coming together and the confidence is pretty high.”
The Snakes are second on the ladder with a 16-7 record and can consolidate that spot with a win tonight against the JackJumpers.
In a big boost for Cairns, Pinder will return to the court in tonight’s match.
Deng appreciates the hard work of Tasmania but insists they will get the job done.
“We are confident we can get the win against the JackJumpers, they are a great team so we have to be ready for them,” Deng said.
“They are a team that never gives up so we need to make sure we all play the full 40-minutes.”
Deng has declared his experience playing for the Taipans has “surpassed” the three seasons he spent with the Adelaide 36ers from 2016-2019.
“The vibe of this team has surpassed what it was like at Adelaide,” Deng said.
“The energy around the group is amazing and it is a group you want to be around.
“I play my role within the team and do what I can and I will help the team as anyone else will do the same.”
Tip-off is 7:30pm AEDT tonight between the Taipans and JackJumpers.
