Alan Williams – 21 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists | 46 SuperCoach points per game
South East Melbourne has been flying since Alan Williams came back into the side, and the NBL’s double-double king led the way for SuperCoach votes in a strong weekend of action for the Phoenix.
Williams dominated the Breakers’ bigs contingent and made the most of the lack of the presence of import Zylan Cheatham manning the post for New Zealand.
Six of his rebounds game on the offensive end, which crucially led to the Phoenix equaling New Zealand’s total of 10 second chance points for the game.

Mitch Creek – 20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists | 40 SuperCoach points per game
South East Melbourne’s spiritual leader has been in fine form in NBL24, but has had to wait until Round 5 to be named as one of the top eight players of the weekend’s action, according to NBL SuperCoach.
While Creek did a little bit of everything in the victory over New Zealand, the truly impressive part of his performance came in his efficiency.
He his seven of his ten shots – including both three-point attempts – and only had one turnover despite his high usage in the win.

Isaac Humphries – 17 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks | 40 SuperCoach points per game
When Mody Maor praises an opposition player after a Breakers loss, you know that player had a ridiculous game – and that’s exactly what happened with Isaac Humphries after Adelaide’s win over New Zealand.
DJ Vasiljevic stole the headlines for his own strong performance, but Humphries is forming one half of what has the potential to be the most lethal pick-and-roll pair in the competition this season.
Humphries took his shots, grabbed his boards, held everyone accountable and quietly put together yet another really good performance for the reborn 36ers.

Gary Browne – 18 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists | 37 SuperCoach points per game
Such was the quality of South East Melbourne’s narrow win against New Zealand that Gary Browne is the third Phoenix player to earn a Fans MVP nomination in Round 5.
As a member of Damon Lowery’s ‘Little Big Man Society’, Browne has continued to fly under the radar this season.
As his NBL23 season proved, Browne is crucial to the Phoenix playing winning basketball – and he’s been lethal in South East Melbourne’s surge to the top of the table.
Parker Jackson-Cartwright – 24.5 points, 5.5 assists, 1 steal per game | 36.5 SuperCoach points per game
New Zealand may have lost both its Round 5 games, but Parker Jackson-Cartwright continues to prove his mettle as one of the best new imports for NBL24.
The diminutive point guard continues to dominate games with his sheer pace and agility, and almost single-handedly dragged the Breakers to victory over South East Melbourne with 33 points.
With Zylan Cheatham out for the foreseeable future, Jackson-Cartwright’s role as both scorer and distributor just got a hell of a lot more important if the Breakers are going to match last season’s results.

Jack McVeigh – 19 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists per game | 34.5 SuperCoach points per game
Jordon Crawford and Milton Doyle were both well held in Tasmania’s pair of Round 5 defeats, so the third member of the JackJumpers’ big three – Jack McVeigh – stepped up big time to give the side a fighting chance in both outings.
First came a game-high 20 points against Melbourne, as United’s weapons just proved too many in number for Tasmania’s foul-troubled bigs in the eight-point defeat, before a team-high 18 points saw the JackJumpers fall barely short in a narrow loss to Brisbane.
McVeigh has flown under the radar this season due to the performances of Doyle and Crawford, but his ability to stand up in Round 5 sees him set for some much-deserved praise.

Sam Froling – 14 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists per game | 34 SuperCoach points per game
Tyler Harvey’s game-winner stole all the headlines for the Hawks this weekend, but Sam Froling played a crucial role in Illawarra’s win over Cairns, before backing it up with a strong performance against Ariel Hukporti, Jo Lual-Acuil Jr and Melbourne United.
Froling started the game against Cairns with a monster dunk in what was a tone-setting moment for the 23-year-old, who went on the finish the game with a 16-point, 13 rebound double-double.
He then turned more distributor against Melbourne with four assists, and would have registered a far stronger game if he could convert from the free throw line.

DJ Vasiljevic – 24 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists | 34 SuperCoach points per game
DJ Vasiljevic is looking an inspired signing for CJ Bruton and the Adelaide 36ers, and he has helped drag his side from the lower reaches of the table and into the post-season positions.
His growing partnership with Isaac Humphries is looking deadly for opposition teams, and his increased role in Bruton’s system has not only given him the licence to shoot whatever he wants, but has allowed him to showcase his qualities as a passer too.
Vasiljevic earmarked his desire to make Australia’s Olympic team upon signing for Adelaide, and if he keeps playing like this he could be in with a genuine chance of heading to Paris.
